What to expect
Schedule your appointment at least 2 weeks prior to a special event. Redness, swelling and peeling may be apparent in that time period.
- Let the provider know if you have a history of cold sores or genital herpes. An antiviral may be prescribed.
- You may not have an active rash in the area being treated.
- Discontinue use of photo-sensitizing medications/drugs (i.e. doxycycline, minocycline, tretinoin) at least 72 hours prior to treatment.
- Avoid sun tanning, tanning beds, or self-tanners 2 weeks prior to treatment.
- Avoidance of Accutane for the past 6 months is required.
- Avoidance of waxing for the past 4 weeks is required.
- Shave the area to be treated 24-48 hours prior to your appointment.
- If pregnant or breastfeeding, you must receive clearance from OB/GYN.
- Your provider will examine your skin and discuss your goals.
- A cool ultrasound gel will be applied to your skin to ensure comfort.
- You’ll be given protective eyewear.
- The BBL HERO device will be moved over the treatment areas. The sensation feels like a rubber band snap..
- Aloe vera and SPF may be massaged onto your skin after completion of the treatment.
- You may experience mild redness, swelling, and sensitivity for a few days.
- Do not pick or scratch treated skin.
- You can resume your daily activities immediately.
- Avoid heat (saunas, hot tubs, etc.) for 1-2 days.
- Avoid strenuous workouts for 24 hours.
- Avoid direct sunlight, self-tanners, and tanning beds.
- Use broad-spectrum SPF 30+ sunscreen when you go outside and reapply every 2 hours.
