The photofacial with Sciton’s BBL HERO is a procedure that helps with acne, sun damage and pigmentation problems, redness, rosacea, small vessels, and removes unwanted hair. After your procedure, your skin looks instantly bright, even-textured, and smooth, reversing years of accumulated skin damage. The BBL photofacial also stimulates collagen production and skin cellular regeneration.
Arrive to your appointment with a clean face (i.e. no makeup or skincare products).
Schedule your appointment at least 2 weeks prior to a special event. Redness, swelling, and peeling may be apparent in that time period.
Let the provider know if you have a history of cold sores. An antiviral may be prescribed.
You may not have an active rash in the area being treated.
Avoid sun tanning, tanning beds, or self-tanners 2 weeks prior to treatment.
Avoidance of Accutane for the past 6 months is required.
Avoidance of other IPL/BBL, laser procedures, and waxing for the past 7 days is required.
If pregnant or breastfeeding, you may receive clearance from OB/GYN for treatment.
The cosmetic provider will examine your skin and discuss your goals.
A cool ultrasound gel will be applied to your skin to ensure comfort.
You’ll be given protective eyewear.
The BBL HERO device will be moved over the treatment areas. It feels like a warm heating pad moving across the desired treatment area.
Recovery cream and SPF will be massaged onto your skin after completion of the treatment.
Bruising, redness, swelling, and sensitivity might be present (and last up to a few days).
Do not pick or scratch at treated skin.
Avoid sun tanning and prolonged exposure to direct sunlight for 1 week after treatment.
Avoid heat (i.e. saunas, hot tubs) for 1-2 days.
Restart regular skin care routine immediately after treatment, although we recommend waiting 24 hours to restart chemical and physical exfoliants.
If exposed to the sun, always use broad spectrum SPF 30+ and reapply every 2 hours.
Treated pigment will turn darker (brown to black) within 24-48 hours then exfoliate off the face in approximately one week and off the body in approximately 2-3 weeks. Do NOT pick off the pigment, it will fall off on its own.
Treated vascular lesions may have a “bug bite” or the appearance of hives, but this usually resolves in 1-2 days.
